Lisa Kanova was created from a simple but increasingly hard-to-find idea: beautiful textiles should feel as good as they look.
This studio was born out of real frustration, not trends. After years of watching textiles shift toward synthetic blends and plastic-feeling finishes, I found myself — and the people closest to me — quietly opting out.
My daughter, now in her thirties, grew tired of clothing and home goods that looked appealing but felt itchy, stiff, or artificial. Around the same time, my closest friend — a skilled maker who sews her own napkins and linens — struggled to source fabric that was both high quality and visually refined. Everything seemed to demand a compromise: comfort or beauty, quality or design. I wasn’t interested in choosing between them.
A Return to Cotton — Intentionally
That’s when I made a clear decision: this studio would focus exclusively on Pima cotton fabric by the yard and 100% cotton home textiles.
